The many variety of fish in the different oceans are important for aquatic biodiversity. Fish also help in the distribution and availability of other marine creatures. However, this aquatic biodiversity suffers in several ways:
- Overfishing by humans has decreased aquatic life and, in some cases, even forced certain species into extinction.
- Polluting streams, rivers, and oceans has caused enormous damage to marine life.
- Spilling oil from rigs and tankers contributes to the extinction of marine life.
